Gavin Larsen, Acupuncturist & TCM Practitioner focused on longevity.

I’m Gavin Larsen, a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P, Dr. TCM Dip.) who spent over a decade in clinic watching people follow generic hair loss protocols that didn’t match their body, and fail.

That’s why I developed Pattern Mapping™: a diagnostic framework that identifies which of 4 internal systems is blocking your regrowth, then gives you the exact protocol to restore it.

Most people with pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) or stress-induced shedding (telogen effluvium) have one or two of these systems offline. Generic advice treats everyone the same. Pattern Mapping™ finds your specific bottleneck.

In clinic, I restore these systems to create the internal conditions for regrowth:

Circulation — When blood flow to the follicle is restricted, nutrients and topicals can’t reach the hair root. I use acupuncture, scalp activation, and circulation-warming herbs to restore delivery.

Digestion & Absorption — If your gut isn’t absorbing iron, B vitamins, or protein properly, supplements pass right through. I address absorption barriers with food therapy, digestive herbs, and supplement optimization.

Hormone & Stress Balance — When cortisol is high and your body is stuck in fight-or-flight, hair growth gets deprioritized. I use nervous system regulation techniques to shift you out of stress mode so follicles can exit shutdown.

Inflammation Control — Your gut and scalp share immune pathways. When your gut flares, your scalp often flares with it. I address the internal inflammation driving scalp reactivity.

The goal isn’t just to stop shedding — it’s to fix the root system failure so your body can grow hair on its own.

Since earning my Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma in 2014, I’ve worked with hundreds of hair loss cases in clinic. As a former instructor, I’m passionate about helping people understand their root patterns and giving them evidence-informed tools to sustain progress.

Outside the clinic, I explore the intersection of strength training, recovery, and longevity — because feeling your best starts with supporting your body’s ability to repair itself.air itself.

I take pride in my collaborations and features. Here are a few places you can find me:
